“My name is Cherry. I am 41 years old. I have dealt with weight issues for 20 years now. I always thought I was overweight as a child/teen, but looking back at pictures I realize that I was not. Height has always been on my side and I carry my weight well.
After the birth of my first child 20 years ago, my weight became an issue. I never lost the weight from that pregnancy and continued to gain through 2 more pregnancies (including a twin pregnancy). I have tried Weight Watchers countless times. I would lose 30-40 pounds and give up. I realize now that I had a fear of success and also was dealing with food addictions, which I really could not see then.
I decided I was destined to be overweight.
However, in July of 2013, I walked into Weight Watchers for the last time. I was weighing 291 pounds. I felt horrible. Walking was a struggle for me. My legs would go numb in the evenings when I was sitting in the recliner watching TV. I could barely move. I was miserable!
It was while I was driving a long distance with my kids and had a sugar low from all of the junk I had eaten that I decided this lifestyle had to change; otherwise, my kids would not have a mother. I should not have been driving while I was feeling that way. I really thought I was going to pass out which was causing me to have a panic attack.
The following Thursday I went to my meeting.
I have lost 77 pounds as of today (10 months later) and I feel like a totally new person! I started the C25K app two months ago and will run my 5K on Memorial Day. I have really enjoyed the challenge of running as it has always been a secret dream of mine! I still have about 28 pounds to lose to get to my goal but I am ready to rock it!“
